AOM-Todd "Tex" Mueller

Todd (Tex) Mueller and his wife, Margie, instantly became part of our foundry family in 2017 when he brought his 1st clay sculpture, “Texas Spirit.” Todd spent over 35 years specializing in computer 3D animation, 2D animation, special effects and design for broadcast television and cable. When he relocated to Dallas for work his love for the Old West sparked a passion for sculpting. Being emersed in the culture, museums and monuments took him from his digital creations back to wire and clay and we are so glad!

Todd’s Western Bronze Collection is proof of his Texas pride and love for the West. Each sculpture offers a present day feel to all things western; from Texas Longhorn to Bison and Oil Derricks. Todd hits the mark every time with what makes the West feel like home to us all.

Recently Todd has relocated to Southport, North Carolina where the ocean shoreline has inspired him to create Nautical Collection of bronzes, like his western collection, these bronzes have unique and beautiful patinas. Todd has truly captured the nautical feel of living on the coast with his latest collection.

Todd’s sculpting style embodies detail and precision, you can feel the intent behind each tool stroke when you look at his pieces. Todd is meticulous when he is building his armatures and applying the clay to each of his forms. From his unequaled bison wool texture to the sleek physique on his longhorns, Todd has invented a style completely his own. He has also developed his own wonderful style of patina using the oxidation caused by heat transfer combined with chemical application giving each bronze a beautiful finish.

Each of Todd’s sculptures are limited editions and can be viewed on his website at TexasMadeSculptures.com. Be sure to check out his two latest pieces, Free Loaders and Royal Elk, coming soon. Royal Elk is one of many commissioned bronzes Todd has completed that will also be available in a limited edition.

Texas Yard Art

“I had the privilege of having the first edition of Texas Yard Art sit on my office desk for a couple of weeks, and as time passed I only loved it more. Part of living in the county is driving down a backroad with your windows down admiring the big Texas Sky and a longhorn and old oil derrick fit right into my backroad memories. I loved having this bronze on my desk, it was like keeping my fondest memories close by.”
-Krystal

A Helping Hand & King Seahorse

“Both of these pieces remind me of living on St. Tomas and my love for the ocean. Todd did an awesome job when creating ‘A Helping Hand,’ the octopus is so well balanced and gives the illusion that it is actually going to be through the water.”
-Jimmy

Prairie Two Step

“I truly appreciate the craftsmanship of Todd as an artist. His work is meticulous and intentional.”
-Kevin

King Seahorse

“Todd’s intricate detail is impressive, I admire the attention he gave to sculpting each ring and the final patina turned out great.”
-Braedon

Free Loaders

“I have only worked on Todd’s newest sculptures, Royal Elk and Free Loaders. I appreciate the pieces being anatomically correct. They feel like a real scene. I have actually seen bird’s perched on an animal’s back eating bugs, so it was fun to see it in his sculpture, Free Loaders.”
-Sarah

Calarmi

“This sculpture has a lot of great things going on. The squid’s tentacles are so intricate and the blue patina is something like I have never seen. Even the flippers, goggles and snorkel are a fun accent to the sculpture.”
-Tori

Sea Mare

“The Sea Mare is my favorite bronze of Todd’s, I like the imagination behind the piece.”
