October’s Artist of The Month is Josey Butler; she is a wife, mother, horse lover and trainer and a true artist. Her body of work is a reflection of the passion and love she has for riding, training and competing in the horse world.

We first connected with Josey in 2020 when she expanded her art portfolio into the sculpture world. She found us on social media and reached out with 2 sculptures ready for the foundry and since then we have had the opportunity to cast several of her other sculptures; some being limited edition bronzes and others being commissioned awards that only a few will be lucky enough to have!

The Professor and Cowtown Throwdown are the first two limited edition bronzes that we cast for Josey and after Jimmy and I studied her paintings the conclusion was that the patina’s on her bronzes were going to have just as much whip, style and uniqueness as her paintings. Sure enough on patina days Josey is right there working on her own patina’s and watching her put the final touches on each sculpture is true magic.

Foundry days with Josey are a bit unique, Josey and Jimmy both share many of the same passions, so we talk painting and technique, sculpture and ideas and then song writing and of course a little guitar playing…it is all necessary and part of the creative process and we love every moment!

It has been so fun to follow Josey on her social media and see that there are no bounds to what, where or how she will create her next work of art. You will see Josey at horse events in a number of facets, whether it be in a booth showcasing her art, competing in the arena or painting live. Recently she has been commissioned to paint huge murals, another thing her and Jimmy have in common…making magic happen with a spray can.
There are a million ways to show it and say it but the simplest is that Josey Butler is a true artist through and through and we are so excited to work with her and can’t wait to see what she will do next!
